Guerrilla Production Tactics: Unconventional Supply Chains for Unconventional Products

(Andrew 'Bunnie' Huang(Sutajio Ko-Usagi Pte))
Conventional supply chains are geared for high volume products featuring incremental improvements. Thus conventional supply chains are often a poor match for commercializing research directly out of the lab. However, in the past decade, three fundamental changes in the manufacturing ecosystem have conspired to enable unconventional supply chains for unconventional products: the end of Moore’s Law, the rise of crowdfunding, and the normalization of open innovation practices. The combination of these three factors enable the phenomenon of “guerrilla”production tactics, offering a new path for getting hardware out of the research lab and into the world.
